WELTEC BIOPOWER at EnergyDecentral: 25 years of experience and new business areas

WELTEC BATTERY HUB expands the portfolio with battery storage solutions

WELTEC BIOPOWER celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026 and will showcase proven technologies and new energy solutions at EnergyDecentral. From 10 to 13 November, the Vechta-based company will present its comprehensive portfolio of biogas and biomethane plants, alongside slurry and digestate treatment technologies, in Hanover. With WELTEC BATTERY HUB, the company will also introduce battery storage systems and associated planning and implementation services for the first time at booth H09 in Hall 25.

Since its foundation in 2001, WELTEC BIOPOWER has delivered more than 450 bioenergy plants in 27 countries. Projects across Europe, the USA, South America, Asia and Australia demonstrate the company’s international experience. Its stainless steel technology and modular plant design enable WELTEC to adapt its biogas and biomethane plants to different feedstocks and site conditions. In its anniversary year, the company is building on this experience and expanding into a further business area.

The WELTEC BATTERY HUB offering centres on the supply of battery storage systems. On request, WELTEC also supports customers with project development and planning for permit applications. Engineering, procurement and construction can also be provided as part of its EPC services. Therefore, customers can obtain both storage technology and implementation support from a single provider. Potential applications include industrial use, integration with solar PV and wind installations, and electricity trading. They can also contribute to peak shaving and microgrid stabilisation.

Another key focus at the exhibition is the treatment of slurry and digestate. The issue of nutrient surpluses and the need for efficient resource recovery is making this an increasingly relevant topic in many countries. WELTEC BLUE WATER offers a technically proven process that reduces slurry and digestate volumes by around half while recovering water suitable for discharge. The system is already in operation in several countries and combines low maintenance requirements with low energy consumption.

The design and construction of biogas and biomethane plants form the core of the company's portfolio. WELTEC draws on 25 years of project experience and offers an integrated range of technologies. These include stainless steel tanks, control systems, hygienisation solutions, and efficient feedstock shredding systems. This allows the company to develop bespoke plant concepts for the available feedstocks and local requirements.

Current projects include a biomethane plant located north of Madrid, which is expected to generate up to 60 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy each year. This is enough to meet the energy requirements of around 11,700 households. WELTEC is also constructing a bioenergy plant for a vegetable processor in Queensland, Australia. Once fully developed, this plant could supply electricity to around 31,000 households.

At EnergyDecentral, the team will share insights into these and other international projects. Visitors will also have the opportunity to find out more about tailored plant concepts, battery storage systems, and services covering combined heat and power (CHP) units, mechanical equipment, and biological processes. The team will also be happy to discuss suitable options for the continued operation and future development of existing plants. WELTEC BIOPOWER looks forward to welcoming customers and partners to booth H09 in Hall 25 from 10 to 13 November 2026 to celebrate 25 years of company history together.
